Sallyzone Shopping!

by Tara McGuigan | 4 months ago | in Ideas In Motion

TSA sets up an e-commerce platform similar to Amazon. On it we sell all manner of items sourced from developing countries/communities, with TSA in those countries helping us to source the goods. Orders are fulfilled direct by the producer. TSA in those developing countries can make something as well and help their people develop a small business. Bangladesh has the Sally Ann project which already is up and running producing and selling – so quality is monitored and finished products are good. There is little cost to TSA Australia in terms of warehousing. We would need to host and manage the online website and follow through the orders. There needs to be some strict delivery guidelines that have to be put in place. I’m sure TSA in India, South America, African countries, South Asian countries would be interested in this additional source of income for their people too. As far as Australia goes, we already have a market just with TSA employees, friends and officers. But there’s also the public, many of who would love to do their purchasing as a social enterprise, knowing they are helping needy people get on their feet. The website could have good news stories of families that have been helped as time goes by.

With the growth of online marketing since the covid pandemic, wouldn’t it be good for TSA to be seen to be moving with the times in this regard too? It would also be a great way to also point people to other TSA services and faith pathways if the website is developed well/smartly.

This idea has the potential to by our online point of difference. One thing I struggle with when it comes to launching another online op shop is "how do you reach certain level of awareness" without plunging in loads of money given that you already have a few Online op shops listed above Salvos store when you google the key words.
and speaking of Salvos store, at some point, I feel that we need to consolidate our online shop Brand portfolio across Salvos store, Sally stores, Family (thrift) stores, and potentially SallyZone to have a clear and consistent online presence.

Absolutely, with the development of any new enterprise we need to explore the crossover with existing TSA offerings and if there is a current gap/ market need.
