Loving and caring depression chat line

A 24/7 depression chat line but is more supportive, caring, and understanding. Having peer workers or people who also live with the illness/survivers be the people on the other side, can be more responsive in how they talk to people who are suicidal/have depression.  A chat line where they get real support and actually feel cared for and feel like they matter, understood and not feel judged. A more positive tone and try to get the people chatting online for help to open up more and have the...

Red Shield Branded Recycling Hubs in Every Property.

We could really show the world we are serious about reducing human impact on God’s creation. We could adopt uniform  indoor rubbish sorting and recycling modules or  boxes. They could be cheap cartons such as Visy cartons or cheap bins installed - flat pack delivered in every property. Or we could just have signage and ask each centre to set up the hubs with a uniform plan. This is furniture but also a critical witness to our faith.  They can be made available for purchase by expressions...

Salvo Ministry Partners

Many people would understand or have knowledge of sister city programs. These programs pair communities usually with a different city in another country. In a similar vain but closer to home, there is great potential in partnering City Corps with Country Corps. - Regular communication between leadership sharing ideas and resources. - Positions to travel and participate in other cultures. - Opportunities for people to experience ministry in a setting other than they are used to. For...

Pet Leave

A Melbourne company is offering its staff six extra days leave to look after new or sick pets. Pawternity Leave aims to ensure families of all shapes and sizes are offered the same support, and it's proving a big hit.  #9News This would be great if the Salvation Army could provide similar as many staff have fur babies.

Professional Pastoral Supervision

In the wake of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, The Salvation Army, along with many other organisations, has been alerted to the need to ensure good practice in all areas of work. One way to reinforce this good practice is through professional supervision. It is likely that it will not be long before professional supervision is not only recommended but mandatory for all ministry workers/pastors. Are we ready for this? Currently there are very few (as...

Worship Tracks

A number of our corps currently struggle to find musicians to play music during worship services.  This leads to the use of video clips through multimedia presenters such as Pro-Presenter, Easy Worship, and so on. However, finding video clips can be quite expensive, with song clips costing upwards of $20 USD depending on where you get them from.  This makes accessing such a resource financially unobtainable when you think that your average worship service may have upwards of 5 songs each...

Efpos Machines for all Corps and Centres

It seems to me that most Corps and Centres I visit do not have Efpos machines. This is a triable inconvenience in our ever increasing cashless society. We are not able to receive money for donations or activity subs unless it is cash and cash is become a progressively difficult commodity to use. It would seem that we are lagging behind and losing opportunities to sell or receive money because of our reluctance to move forward in our management in point of sales. I would like to every Corps...

Business Chaplain

Business Chaplaincy is where a business or company hires from The Salvation Army a chaplain for a period of time (1-3 years) so as their employees and management can gain access to a chaplain to help their staff/management with any emotional help. The tools the Chaplain brings will be the PLP and a listening ear as well as easy access to the wider services of The Salvation Army.
