UPDATE: 24.02.20 After a great pitch, the innovation team has decided to continue to support the idea into an incubator stage to develop a response to some questions raised by our Pitch Panel and to explore the potential of a social bond strategy to funding. The Idea Development grant would remain open to a future request for funding when a clear understanding of what is required has been proposed.       A National telephone line/ multi technology tool  for loneliness....

Update: 02.03.20 The Pitch Panel agreed that creating community in schools, and TSA being visible and engaged in the life of schools, was of high value, and wanted to congratulate the team on their efforts this far. SAGE stands for Salvation Army Garden Engagement. Where there is land available on SA Corps or Social Centres, vegetable gardens can be established with the aim to provide a connection point for people in the community. Funding from the grants can be used for construction materials, soil, tools, etc and the installation of a water tank and fences as required.   Small plots could be allocated to individuals/families or larger plots could be used communally. Salvo personnel would oversee...

Family violence is a national crisis. 1 woman is killed each week in Australia by a current or former partner. 1 in 4 women have experienced emotional abuse by a current or former partner and 1 in 6 have experienced physical or sexual violence (Our Watch). Australian police respond to more than 260 000 domestic violence incidents each year (>700 per day) (Australian Institute of Criminology, 2018). The Salvation Army along with many other services have worked hard over the last 30 years...

UPDATE: 24.04.20 The Pitch Panel believes that this concept requires further clarification, project planning and research. The Ideas Development Grant will remain open to a further request for funding once greater clarity has been established.   Many Chinese migrants feel helpless and isolated because they are unable to communicate effectively in English. When they experience life challenges, they are not sure where to seek help and advice, relying on their limited capacity to deal...

UPDATE: 24.04.20 The innovation team would continue to support the idea into the research of defining markets and to establish a delivered manufacture costing. The Idea Development grant would remain open to a future request for funding once research is completed and a market direction has been established.   Take a moment to imagine an environment wildly different to yours.  Limited access to the resources we take for granted…things like water, health care and education. This is...

UPDATE: 24.02.20 The innovation team will continue to support the idea by way of exploring innovative funding proposals and partnerships.     Following the successful implementation of the ‘START AOD Community' in the South East Melbourne area, it has been identified that some people are not able to access the program because of transport and distance, so .... why not take it to them! A needs analysis has identified that there is a high prevalence of drug and alcohol addiction...

A peer support group designed to remove stigma, and provide education and support to parents who are beating addictions and have lost custody of their children.  This demographic faces challenges such as domestic violence, addictions, poverty and past trauma.  Indigenous persons are over-represented in this demographic.  Art therapy would be provided by a Certified Art Therapist and mental health worker, making it a space for healing past hurts and connecting people from like circumstance to...

Stories are powerful. When you hear someone's story, you lean in and something in them connects with something in you. I work at a Salvation Army expression on the Central Coast of NSW and we would love to better tell the stories of people whose lives have been transformed while engaging with our service. If we could capture these stories in short video format, they would be a powerful tool to inspire people, promote programs or connect with potential funding partners. BUT  we currently...
